New Batman Movie Dark Knight Rises to star Anne Hathaway as Catwoman and Tom Hardy As Bane

After becoming the first director to direct more than two Batman feature films he has now decided to take on the impossible task of trying to bring to life the characters of Bane and Catwoman. The Dark Knight Rises, which is to be the name of the 3rd Batman movie, will be releasing in the summer of 2012 - unlike what some people expected, the third Batman movie by Christopher Nolan will not be in 3d.

Christopher Nolan has put to rest the rumors that the Riddler would be the next villain in the 3rd Batman movie, by announcing hat Tom Hardy will be taking on the role of super-villain Bane, and Anne Hathaway will take on the role of Catwoman/Selina Kyle.

Both the charecters of Bane and Catwoman have been used in previous Batman movies but we hope that with Chris Nolan bringing them to life the same way he did with the Joker will lead to some amazing acting and storytelling.

Christopher Nolan has stated:

I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Anne Hathaway, who will be a fantastic addition to our ensemble as we complete our story… I am delighted to be working with Tom again and excited to watch him bring to life our new interpretation of one of Batman’s most formidable enemies.

For those of you who have not read the graphic novels, Bane is the one character that has actually killed Batman (Sorry folks, my information seems to be a bit rusty. Bane did not actually kill Batman, he broke his back and left him a paraplegic and than took him down to Gotham Square and threw him from the roof down to the square to show who the new boss in Gotham was Bruce was eventually healed using paranormal means.). He used his brain in his plan to take over Gotham City. Instead of trying to attack Batman and lose right away, Bane decided to break out all the criminals from Arkyum Asylum and let them run rough house all over Batman before he eventually decided to confront him.

Bane is also the first villain that finds out Batman is actually Bruce Wayne. (Except of course for Waynes mentor Ra's Al Ghul who as shown in Batman begins actually figured out that Bruce Wayne was Batman.)

Lets hope that Nolan can bring these amazing characters to life.

Rumors are abound that we will be seeing Talia al Ghul who would be the daughter of Ra's al Ghul making a comeback to the movie.  Quite possible that she will be there to take revenge for her fathers death?

I just hope that this is not turning into another Spiderman 4 with too many villains and not enough back story.
